It's still not finished. But we are getting closer. We ended up using Elmer's Permanent Scrapbook tape to put the million little pieces of wood onto the mirror. And it worked awesome to hold everything in place. It has been hanging on the wall for several days now and nothing has fallen off yet. If we start losing pieces, we may have to go to glue. But this is working great so far.
We spray painted the wood white and then put the tape on the back side of each piece.
And here is our little "puzzle-project" all put together. We are still trying to decide on a frame for the border. Would love to hear any comments or suggestions. Christopher is off work for a couple of days this week so maybe we will have this little project finished in the couple of days!

Love this project! Just curious- what type of wood did you use?
thanks for stopping by! We used wood from home depot - it is called general purpose pine and comes in really long lengths (like 10-12 ft) and it measures 1/2" x 3/4". I have a picture of the label from HD...if you want to send me an email, I will send the pic over to you! We spray painted all the pieces white after we cut everything. Hope that helps!
OK I jsut found this project today from another blog. But can you email me or edit to add the post on how to do the math stuff. because uhh i kinda didn't pass math the first time in college. hello pr major :) i was thinking of buying a mirror that already has trim (maybe walmart or salvation army if i can!) and then i'd add the mdf stuff. I just don't know how to figure putting it all out. Sigh, shouldn't paid more attention in geometry.
hmmm...I wish I could offer a super easy answer! The math part was maybe the trickiest part. My husband actually majored in math in college (yes, there are people who do that - crazy, I know!!) :) We started off by measuring the mirror into even thirds. I think it would be easier if it already had the frame so you would not have to account for that. This is why we used a dry erase maker to draw the design first - bc we had to keep erasing and re-doing until we got it right. So divide it up into 3 sections, then you can draw your layout in one of the sections, measure it, and repeat it in the other 2 sections in the same size. I hope that helps a little bit. Any maybe there is an easier way - for us it was just a bit of trial and error! Good luck! And I would LOVE to see the finished product!
