I need to start soon. I have been highly unmotivated mostly because our conversations about the potty go like this.
Me: "Ashlyn, do you want to use the potty like a big girl and get an M&M?"
Ashlyn: "No, Mommy, NO POTTY! No M&M."
What two year old says no to M&M's?
So let me tell you what has happened. I have eaten them. Almost the entire BIG bag. Not in one day but over the course of a week or two. Christopher ate some. But I think I had the majority.
Lesson learned - don't buy anymore M&M's until I am ready to actually start potty training. And even then, I think I need to get a small bag. Was I really planning to give my toddler over a pound of candy for going to the potty?

My daughter will do anything for an M&M! I worked great to potty train her. I don't love them, so it was good for me. I didn't want them! Good luck when you get started!
Boy, do I need to do a post on this soon too! Kensie has ZERO interest in the potty. I've been advised by many that it's not even worth starting until they are interested! But, how do you get a 2.5 yr old interested??? She's seen her friends go on the potty and get all kinds of rewards. For now she thinks it's cool for everyone else...just not for her. Kids are so weird sometimes...
Potty training...whew, it is not something I'm looking forward to! Look at Ashlyn's cute pony tail! :) And Chase's squeezable cheeks! :)
Ok, so now I'm starting not to feel like a complete maniac for starting Cai on the potty at 16 months... I go back and forth over this issue, between feeling absolutely nuts for doing it now and absolutely brilliant for avoiding attitudes! But I think ONE positive has been that he can't tell me NO and M&Ms are definitely still really cool. However, he won't TELL me if he has to poop or pee, so I'm just putting him on every so often... He does go as long as I'm consistent and remember to do it, but sometimes I forget and he just goes in his diaper! I think it is hard NO MATTER when you start or what you do. Potty training is evil, but must be conquered! Haha! Oh and we also have one of those fun M&M dispensers that you turn the knob to get the M&Ms, so maybe that would be more fun!
Too funny! Love it!
Your post had me cracking up. Mostly because M&Ms were the bribe of choice my parents used to potty train my brother, sister, and I. We got one M&M to go #1 and 2 M&Ms for a #2. That was TMI, sorry :)
Good luck with training!
