Doc appt

Chase had his nine month doctor's appointment today.  I have honestly been worried about his lack of verbal development.  He really does not make many sounds other than laughing/crying and sometimes a few "ahhhhhhhhs."  No babbling. No consonants.  No waving or clapping.  Our pediatrician was not too concerned yet because he makes good eye contact and is hitting his other milestones - like crawling, climbing, pulling up, cruising, ect.

I just wish my sweet boy would start "talking."  I know you should never compare babies because they all develop so differently.  By nine months Ashlyn was clapping, waving and "chatting" up a storm.  But she was not crawling with her belly off of the ground.  They just all have their own pace.  It's just so hard not to worry sometimes.

Cutie. No worries they are all different. I can't believe it's 9 months already!

Oh gosh, comparing will kill you! It's been so hard for me to have my niece just 2 weeks ahead of Cai! She always does EVERYTHING faster, better, etc than him, but ya know what.... she's a GIRL... we just happen to be superior and it's not Chase's fault at all! LOL! Cai really was WAY less talkative than Naomi who was basically saying words at 9 months like Mama and Dada, etc! He'll get there!

I agree about girls developing faster. Both of my boys were(tenn)/are(asher) slow with verbal development....and then Tennyson just took off and is now correcting me ; )

i was going to say what has been said- i have a girl and boy and sawyer was quicker physically to develop where emy was sort of a fat blob. ;) but emmy was much quicker with words, and communication. i think it's just a sex thing

Anne, I think as moms we will always worry. Even though I have three girls, they are all so different. The dr. recommended that my middle daughter go to a speech therapist if her language didn't start to develop by 1-year. She never had to go to therapy. She's now in first grade, is smart, kind and funny. She's even reading at a 4th grade level! I remember being soooo worried about her as a baby (she had lots of other issues), so it's fun to be able to brag about her now. Hang in there!

It's easy for me to say don't worry about it, he'll be fine...but I know how you feel. We all want our kids to succeed even in the littlest things like babbling. :) I worry Kensie is NEVER going to learn to use the potty. But, people keep saying, "She'll learn eventually!". So there you go. Hang in there fellow mommy and keep lovin' on those kiddos. You are doing great!

I too am guilty. Every time someone stops in the store to "talk" to Jackson, I get so nervous like they are going to judge him because he just stares back blankly. He only "talks" to me and jonathan. It is so hard to know when to take action and when to realize they are just doing what they do.

He sure is cute!

it's natural to compare because it's all you know. bear has hit all of his milestones much much later than june did. it will get easier to embrace the differences. he's a cutie!

Cole is "behind" on his verbal development too. Everytime I go to the doctor I'm saying no to any of the verbal questions. But the doctor says he's fine. And he was doing all the gross mottor development things. He still barely says mama and dada. And really doesn't say anything else. So I'm sure they will ask me if he has 10 or more words in his vocabulary when I go for his 15 month check up and I will say no. Oh... and it took forever for Cole to learn to clap and wave bye. He just started waving bye around 1 or so. Don't worry! I'm excited to see you guys in May!!
