Our week

Ash had an Easter egg hunt at her preschool.
Our home project for this week - a hook on the inside of a cabinet door for hanging bibs.  Saw it on pinterest. Genius.
Ashlyn is such a great little helper around the house.  She loves to feed her brother.
And sneak bites of his yogurt.
Tomorrow is potty training - Day 1.  It's time.  She has already peed in her potty 5 times in the last two days.  I was sort of hoping she would just potty train herself.  At least I know she knows what to do.

We will be hanging out at home tomorrow with lots of towels and Hello Kitty big girl panties.

Growing up

I want to cry every time I think that he may be our last.  He is growing up so much.

But you know what always brings a smile to my face?

This.
Because baby mohawks are just too darn cute.  Especially when you wake up from a nap and rock this look naturally.  His hair is so funny to me.  It grows straight up in the back but lays down on the sides and front.

Twinkle, Twinkle

I don't want to forget today.

We had a picnic for lunch.  All four of us.  Sandwiches, fruit and a big sheet spread out in the back yard.
And then tonight.  We put Ashlyn to bed, and then decided to get her back up a few minutes later to lay in the hammock with us and look at the stars.  She loves stars.  One of her favorite songs right now is "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."  Except she sings "Heeeenkle, Heeeenkle."

She laid so still between us in the hammock holding Elmo.  I loved hearing her count the stars "one, three, nine, five..."

And after about 15 minutes, we took her back to bed.  The sweetest night.

Saturday

I really wanted to sleep a few more minutes this morning.  Because it's the weekend.  Chase was not having it though.

My little guy was ready to get his weekend started bright and early.

Well, let's be realistic -- more like dark and early.

It's ok.  I love waking up and seeing this sweet face.

Crazy Curly Hair

Hope you had a great weekend.  Christopher's mom kept the kids Saturday and we had lunch date that lasted almost 3 hours.  So much fun.  I love dates.  Even "day dates".

Ashlyn's hair has been difficult to deal with.  And for all you momma's out there with curly haired kiddos, I am sure you understand. It is wild and curly and crazy - especially in the mornings and after her naps.  A sweet friend of mine recommended a product called Noodle & Boo Conditioning Hair Polish.

Amazing.  And totally worth every penny.  Her hair has been sooooooo easy to comb - and it smells delicious.

Don't you love finding new products that make life (and hair) a little more manageable?
I was bummed this picture was out of focus - but they are still so cute.  My sweet boys.

eight months.

My little man is growing up.  He turned 8 months old this week!

He loves to be held.  Which I love too.  I remind myself to enjoy holding him TODAY because tomorrow might be the day he decides he is ready to jump out of my arms.  But so far, he is perfectly content to hold on to his mommy and let me cuddle with him.

We are doing 3 meals a day in addition to nursing.  Breakfast - bananas, cereal & milk.  Lunch - lately has been avocado/applesauce/cereal and yogurt.  Dinner - sweet potatoes mixed with applesauce & cereal.  I probably need to give him green veggies.  One day I will.  I'm sure of it :)

He still takes three naps - but I know that his short evening "catnap" is probably about to end.  He is all over the place crawling and pulling himself around on the floor.  Sometimes his belly is up off the ground; sometimes not.  He loves wires and cords and cell phones.  I guess all babies do.

Multitasking

Christopher, can you watch the kids for a a little while?

And yes, of course that means you can take a nap WHILE you play with them.

This is multi-tasking at its finest.  Love.
All jokes aside, Christopher is a wonderful father who truly invests in his children.  I just couldn't help  laughing when I walked in the playroom and heard him SNORING Saturday morning.

Shoo Flu

Chase was diagnosed with the FLU on Wednesday.

And the answer is no.  He did not have a flu shot.

I just couldn't bear to let him get ANOTHER shot in the midst of the seemingly millions of vaccines they get during their first few months of life.

His pediatrician announced that Chase was his first confirmed flu case of the year.  Ummm...gee...thanks?  Glad it was my kid.

He said his partner had only seen a couple of cases.  Probably because all of the other good mothers who go to their practice got their kids vaccinated.  Oops.
He has been doing much better today.  He was actually laughing at Ashlyn this morning and his fever is pretty much gone.  I have loved the extra cuddle time the last few days.  So sweet.
