13.5 months

Chase had his initial assessment with BabyNet last week and qualified for therapy in a few different areas (speech, adaptive, and gross motor).  That should start in a week or two.  Everyone tells me he is fine and that he will "talk and make sounds when he is ready."  It is nice to hear that others have had similar experiences.  But I feel better about  going ahead and starting therapy now, especially since he qualifies and it is FREE!

In other news, he took his first few steps on his own last week.  His favorite thing to do right now is crawl up and down stairs.  He loves to watch his big sister and follow her all around the house.  I love hearing her make him laugh in the back of the car.

Yesterday morning we skipped church and took the kids to the pool.  We were the only people there.  It was so much fun.  Christopher and I talked about how one day we would look back and remember these crazy times with two little people and how sweet and fun and busy and wonderful and tiring and amazing every day is.

NYC & San Diego

This little girl went to the dentist for the first time a couple of weeks ago.  I took her with me to "watch" but as soon I was finished she said "Mommy, it's my turn now."  And climbed right up in the chair to let them clean her teeth.  Much easier than anticipated.
 The terrorizer of the bookshelf.
Last weekend I went to NYC with some of my best friends for a much needed girls getaway.  We ate and laughed and talked and shopped and walked around until I was convinced that Dawn was going to go into early labor.
Christopher sent me this pic while he was having his guys weekend with this lil man.  His text said "What's up, Mommy?"  Love it.
I walked in the door Sunday night, emptied out my suitcase and repacked to leave at 5am Monday for San Diego for a work meeting.  It was beautiful.
It is tough being away for so long.  I was missing my babies like crazy.  Glad to be home!

thirteen months

I love this sweet face and those blue eyes.
He will walk around everywhere as long as he can hold on to something.  He has been making a few babbling sounds but I am still going to take him to a speech therapist at the end of August.  He does clap and wave.  Yesterday he started sticking out his tongue when I asked him to.  So he is understanding things.

This guy loves to eat.  Last night he ate a huge bowl of mac & cheese, 2.5 cups of mandarin oranges and 10 ounces of milk.  And then cried for more.  I am having a really hard time stopping the bottle because he is so sweet and cuddly when he drinks his milk.  It's so funny how with Ash I was determined to be finished with the bottle at one year and with Chase it does not seem to matter as much.  He is so heavy and my back hurts from picking him up.  But he is so happy sitting on my hip so I just enjoying carrying him around as much as he lets me.

We just found out he is allergic to peanuts :(

I love to rock him to sleep at night and sing and watch his little eyes close and then open to look at me one more time.  Sigh.  I just love it.  And I will do it as long as he lets me.  I think he is our last.  I kind of want him to stay a little baby forever.

happy thirteen months, Chase!

More summer

Our summer has been so crazy and busy and wonderful.  I feel like my life has revolved around lists of who is going where and when, what to pack, meals to plan for, ect.

Ash got to go to the beach with Christopher's parents last weekend.  Here are a couple of texts I got while she was there.

We went to Chuck e cheese last week to spend some time with our best friends who are moving to Charlotte.  Boohoo.
And just got home today from visiting Aunt JuJu and Uncle Gene in Atlanta for the weekend.
A trip to Fresh Market to pick out candy with Aunt JuJu.  Ashlyn loved it.
