What She Says

I asked Ashlyn tonight if she remembered when she used to live in Mommy's belly.

Her reply was "YEAH!  I was swimming!"
And most days, when I drop her off at school she leaves me with these instructions:

"Don't play in my room and don't play with my animals on my bed."

It just makes me laugh every time because she is so serious.  Oh precious baby girl - if only all I had to do while you are at school is play in your room.  ha.

fourteen months

I am a little late posting this but have been out of town for work this week.  Our little man turned 14 months old last week. I think we are getting a little closer to dropping his morning nap.  He sleeps forever long in the morning but has had a little tougher time going to sleep in the afternoons somedays.

We are meeting with his speech therapist tomorrow.  Excited to see what in the world they do with a 14 month old.  He still does not really make any babbling sounds other than "ahhhs...and ooohhhs and sometimes yayayay".  We are working on some sign language too and he seems to be getting the hang of a few things.  He is not walking by himself yet.  Perfectly happy to crawl or push something to walk around.

We finally stopped the bottle this week.  I was out of town so it was much easier for Christopher to do it.  I don't know that I ever would have been able to.  ha.  Even this morning when he saw me and I tried to give him his sippy cup, he FLIPPED out.  I know he wanted his bottle when he saw me even though Christopher said he had done great with his cup all week.  My sweet boy knows how to work his momma.  I did not give in today - but definitely thought about it.

I am just in love with this sweet face.  And secretly would want to feed him a bottle as long as he would let me ;)

Labor Day 2012

This picture summarizes Chase's 2012 Labor Day beach trip:
Little man has had a rough few days.  I took him to the doctor right before we left for the beach last week.  His preliminary lab results came back yesterday positive for salmonella.  What in the world?  Have no idea where he got it.  We still managed to have a good time at the beach despite his miserable diaper rash.
Rocking in her new school shoes.
Ash and I had chocolate glazed doughnuts for breakfast on the beach Sunday morning.  She loves to sit right beside me and say "Let's talk, Mommy."
Wild man's little curls starting to stick out of his hat.
He seems to be feeling better today.  Finally.

Kitchen, Preschool & Ashlyn

Christopher and I started tearing down backsplash in the kitchen.  Because I decided I wanted to change it up a little.  We have been removing grout in the tile that is staying up which may be the most tedious task ever.
Here is our kitchen in progress.
And finished.
This is my beautiful baby girl's wild and crazy hair.
Today was her first day of preschool.  She was so excited.  She keeps asking me about her teachers from last year (Ms. Jones & Ms. Wanda). It is kind of hard to explain to a two year old that she has new teachers this year.  :)  We had a happy first day of preschool!
 She is so silly.
 And sweet.
 And funny.
Some of my favorite things that she says right now:

"Mommy, you rock me to bed?" (I mean, how could I ever say no??)
"I love you in the world"

But by far the funniest thing she has said in a while happened this morning while she was on the potty. She looked at me and said "I farted."  It caught me off guard because we don't use that word and I could not figure out where she had heard it.  Then she said it again.  "I farted.  Do you wanna hear it?"  I started laughing so hard I almost cried.

I tried explaining to her that we don't use that word in our house.

And then she asked me if she could say it outside.

Smarty pants.
